Welcome to River Beaches ("the App", "we", "us", "our"). River Beaches is an independent, community-driven project created by a group of enthusiasts, currently represented by an individual based in Portugal. The App is designed to help users discover river beaches, primarily in Portugal with planned expansion to other countries.
By downloading, installing, or using River Beaches, you ("you", "the user") agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
The App is available to users aged 13 and older. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age. Users under the age of 18 should review these Terms with a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will delete their account and associated data.
All beach descriptions, access tips, safety notes, water quality indicators, facility information, and any other content provided in the App are written and maintained to the best of our knowledge and are intended for general informational purposes only.
By using this App, you expressly acknowledge and agree that:
River Beaches, its creators, contributors, and representatives shall not be liable for any harm, injury, loss of life, property damage, financial loss, or any other damages — direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential — arising from reliance on information provided in the App. Use of this App and any decision to visit a location described therein is entirely at your own risk.
Photos displayed in the App come from two sources: (a) user-submitted photos, and (b) publicly available photos sourced from the internet.

By submitting a photo to the App, you confirm that you own the rights to that photo or have the necessary permission to share it, and that it does not infringe the rights of any third party. You grant River Beaches a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, and distribute the photo within the App and related platforms.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.
Users may submit reviews, ratings, photos, and beach suggestions. By submitting content, you grant River Beaches a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, reproduce, and distribute that content across the App and related platforms, including social media, email communications, and any future River Beaches website.
You retain ownership of your content. However, you are solely responsible for any content you submit. Content that is false, defamatory, harassing, or illegal is prohibited and may be removed without notice.
Where user-generated content is found to be in violation of applicable law, we reserve the right to cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities and to provide any relevant account information as required by law. This obligation survives any account deletion by the user. Deleting your account removes your public presence from the App but does not erase our ability to cooperate with a legal investigation concerning content you posted prior to deletion.

All original content created by River Beaches — including the App's design, layout, text, graphics, logos, and curation — is the property of River Beaches and its contributors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our name, logos, or branding without prior written permission.
Automated scraping, crawling, or extraction of any content from River Beaches — including but not limited to beach descriptions, tips, photos, user reviews, and any other data — is strictly prohibited without prior written permission. This prohibition applies to all automated systems including artificial intelligence tools, large language models, and data aggregation services. Any use of River Beaches content to train AI models, build derivative applications, or create competing services is expressly forbidden.
User-submitted content (including reviews and photos) remains the intellectual property of the original contributor under the licence terms described above. No third party may reproduce, distribute, or use such content without explicit written permission from River Beaches. Permission requests can be directed to inforiverbeaches@gmail.com.
We may introduce new features in the future, including advertising. Should advertising be introduced, we will endeavour to limit ad content to categories appropriate for a general audience and consistent with the nature of the App. These Terms will be updated to reflect any material changes to the App's functionality.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App — or any part of it — at any time, with or without notice. We also reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We will endeavour to notify users of material changes where possible.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Portugal. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Portugal.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, River Beaches, its creators, contributors, and representatives shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to personal injury, loss of data, loss of revenue, or property damage, arising from your use of the App or reliance on its content, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
